"Ludacris 'Area Codes' vs. Johnny Cash 'I've Been Everywhere'" (March 8, 2010)
Jason B.
Blogger Jason B. posted this map on xtra-rant.com in response to an earlier map which plotted the area codes listed in the Ludacris song “Area Codes” (2001) as locations where the rapper had sexual encounters. Jason B. then overlaid locations mentioned in Johnny Cash’s “I’ve Been Everywhere” (1996) to ascertain whether overlap existed for a “potential hit mash-up album,” suggesting the popularity of these two singers extends to the locations they cite in their recordings. Jason B.’s map also implies the popular awareness of the colored areas of the map, highlighting similarities in the unlikely comparison between Ludacris and Cash.
